Discover the background to authenticity:

Friends

Friendship to believe in

Many of us acquire our friendships through circumstance and retain them through habit, even when they might be limiting our opportunity for growth by causing us tension and challenging our confidence.

Friendships may have started because of shared circumstances, school, workplace or other situation. When that situation has changes many of us lack the confidence to move on from those relationships and maintain them even when there may no longer be any reason for connection.

To move beyond these limits we can combine finding new more aligned friends with, editing our address book and coaching friends to their own place of authenticity and growth.

Finding friends who are more aligned with who we are requires us first to know who we are and be able to communicate it and then being in places where we are likely to meet people with whom we share interests.

Seven Stages of Authenticity The book is a detailed and highly practical personal development manual that suggests specific ways for readers to develop more meaningful relationships.

Community is that experience of deep kinship we have when a group of people are aligned, in tune and interdependent; in the same way as the stories we might read about groups bonding in adversity, or the teamwork of the very best sports teams.  In an authentic community there is no fixed hierarchical leadership, and leadership flows dynamically around the group to where it is most relevant, due to skills, knowledge, experience, location and so on.

Neil Crofts - Seven Stages of Authenticity

"Friendship is born at that moment when one person says to another: What! You too? I thought I was the only one."

C. S. Lewis

"Do you know what friendship is? it is to be brother and sister; two souls which touch without mingling, two fingers on one hand."

Victor Hugo

"True friendship is seen through the heart not through the eyes."

Unknown

"The most valuable things in life are not measured in monetary terms. The really important things are not houses and lands, stocks and bonds, automobiles and real state, but friendships, trust, confidence, empathy, mercy, love and faith."

Bertrand Russell

"The glory of friendship is not the outstretched hand, nor the kindly smile, nor the joy of companionship; it is the spiritual inspiration that comes to one when he discovers that someone else believes in him and is willing to trust him."

Ralph Waldo Emerson

I get by with a little help from my friends.

John Lennon

Have no friends not equal to yourself.
